Hot Dip Galvanized Steel used in the Largest Carbon Neutral Fruit Mill
Hereford Galvanizers have recently processed approximately 200 tonnes of portal frame steelwork for local fabricator Collins Engineering who are based in Pontrilas, Herefordshire.
The steelwork forms part of a multi million £ development for Universal Beverages Limited's (UBL) at Ledbury, Herefordshire.
UBL are constructing a new factory that will have a capacity to process up to 15,000 tonnes of fruit per week, the project will be complete in time for the 2008 harvesting. The ambitious project also involves the relocation of 11no 227,000L stainless steel tanks from Hereford to Ledbury.
Up to 18,000 trees and shrubs will also be planted to reduce the impact of the storage tanks, which ar are nearly 30m tall.
Hot dip galvanizing of the steelwork was chosen because of it long life, low maintenance and overall durability to provide corrosion protection.
